ttget - Video Downloader Helper — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-22
The ttget browser extension (“the extension”) helps the ttget.com website download videos and photos through your own browser. The extension does not collect, sell or share personal data and does not track your browsing. It passes a page address, link or video to ttget.com only when you click to send it (right-click menu, on-page button, “Download on ttget”), and never to anyone else.
Where it runs
- The extension’s page script runs only on
app.ttget.com, the part of ttget.com that talks to the extension. - It contacts Instagram, Facebook, Reddit or another supported site (the full list is in the extension’s optional permissions and is shown in the browser’s permission prompt) only after you grant access to that site, and only when you start a download on ttget.com. Access to these sites, and to “all sites” (for capture mode), is optional and requested only when you need it. You can remove it at any time in your browser’s extension settings.
What happens to data
- Downloads from Instagram, Facebook, Reddit and other supported sites: your browser requests the post and media directly from that site. The response goes only to the ttget.com page you have open, so it can show and save the video. Cookies,
Set-Cookie,Authorizationand other session headers are never passed to the page. Requests whose response goes to the page are sent without your cookies, so the page can never act as your logged-in account. Files saved with your browser’s download manager are an exception: the browser handles that download like any other and may send the cookies it already holds for that site; ttget never sees them. - Right-click menu “Download with ttget”: only when you click it, the selected link (or the address of the page or frame you clicked) is opened on ttget.com in a new tab, so ttget.com receives that one address. Nothing else is sent, and no identifier or cookie is added.
- On-page button “Download with ttget”: on post and video pages of supported sites you have allowed, a small button is shown. To decide when to show it, the extension looks only at the page address, inside your browser; it does not read the page content. Only when you click it, that page address is opened on ttget.com in a new tab, exactly like the right-click menu. You can hide it (×) or turn it off on the extension’s options page.
- What the ttget.com page can see: the extension’s version and which supported sites you have allowed it to access, so ttget.com can tell you whether a permission is still needed.
- Capture mode (optional): only on a tab where you turn it on, the extension notes the addresses, types and sizes of media files that the page plays, so they can be listed in the popup. The list is kept in the browser’s session memory and is cleared when the tab navigates or closes. Cookies are never recorded. Only when you click “Download on ttget” on an item is that link, with the page address, tab title and the Referer/Origin the site needs, passed to the ttget.com tab it opens. In Firefox, the first such click asks for your permission to share browsing activity and website content with ttget; without it nothing is sent, and you can withdraw it in Add-ons Manager.
- Settings you choose on the options page (sites where links are not captured, minimum file size, on-page button on or off) stay in your browser’s storage. The site list and the size are stored with your browser’s sync storage, so if you use browser sync (Google or Firefox account) the browser copies them to your other devices; ttget never receives them.
- Downloaded files are saved by your browser in your Downloads folder and are never uploaded by the extension.
- Temporary technical data (which ttget tab a download belongs to, links you send to a new ttget tab, the capture list) is kept in the browser’s storage and deleted as soon as it is used, when the tab closes or when the browser closes. Permission to download a captured link expires after 2 hours.
What the extension does not do
- No analytics, tracking, ads or fingerprinting inside the extension.
- No access to your cookies, passwords or form data.
- No remote code: everything the extension runs is inside the installed package.
- It does not work on YouTube.
The ttget.com website (not the extension) receives the links you submit, error codes and anonymous usage events (for example “download completed”, source site, browser name), as described in the ttget.com privacy policy. No IP address or browser fingerprint is stored with these events.
