Instagram Reels Downloader
Paste the link of a public Instagram Reel above to save the clip as an MP4 file. Free, with no Instagram login and nothing to install.
How to save an Instagram Reel
- Grab the reel’s link. While the reel plays, tap the paper-plane icon on the right and pick Copy link. In the Reels feed you can also open the ⋯ menu of the reel and copy the link from there.
- Paste the link here. Put it into the box at the top of this page; it starts on its own when you paste, or you can press Download.
- Pick a video button. A few seconds later the reel’s cover and its download buttons appear. Tap the first video button to get the sharpest version.
One link gives you one reel. If you have a handful of reels to keep, paste up to five links at once, separated by spaces or new lines: TTGet works through them one after the other and shows a result for each.
Reel links TTGet understands
Instagram hands out reel links in a few shapes, and all of them lead to the same clip:
instagram.com/reel/<code>/, the classic address of a single reel. The<code>part, such asC8xYz12AbCd, is what identifies the clip.instagram.com/reels/<code>/, which is what the address bar shows while you scroll through the Reels feed on a computer.instagram.com/share/reel/…, the short form that newer versions of the app put on your clipboard. TTGet asks Instagram where it points and continues with the real reel.- Mobile addresses on
m.instagram.comand links that carry tracking bits like?igsh=…or?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link. Leave them as they are. - A reel link inside a message. Copying a whole DM or a caption is fine; the link is picked out of the text.
Some addresses look like reels but are not one clip. The Reels tab of a profile (instagram.com/<name>/reels/) lists many reels, and an audio page (instagram.com/reels/audio/…) collects every reel that uses a sound. Pasting one of them only brings up an error, and trying again won’t change that. Open the reel you want and copy its own link.
What the buttons in the result mean
A reel comes back as one row: the cover picture on the left (only a preview, not a button) and the video buttons on the right.
- Video HD appears when Instagram labels a stream as its high-definition copy. If you see it, it is the one to take.
- Video 720x1280 and similar names give the frame size in pixels, width first. Most reels top out at 720x1280; older or low-light clips can be smaller. A bigger number means a sharper picture and a bigger file.
- Lower-case names such as
video …show up when the first, faster method could not read the reel and TTGet fell back to a second one. The file is the same kind of MP4; the names are just less tidy.
The labels come from the server and stay in English whatever language you read this page in. Whichever button you choose, the file is the MP4 Instagram already stores for that reel, saved without re-encoding. There is no TTGet logo added and no watermark stamped on the video. Text, stickers or captions that the creator placed inside the clip are part of the picture, so they stay.
Saving just the sound of a reel
Sometimes you only want the song or the voice-over. For some reels, Instagram’s answer includes the soundtrack as a separate stream, and the result then shows an extra button with “audio” in its name (for example music audio only). That saves an audio file, usually M4A, which plays in the music apps of every phone and computer.
Not every reel comes with that button: it depends on how Instagram delivers the reel at that moment. Without it, save the video and pull the sound out with an editor on your device, such as iMovie, CapCut or the built-in video editor of your phone. The audio page of a sound (/reels/audio/…) can’t be downloaded at all, since it is a list of reels, not a file.
Reels that can’t be downloaded
TTGet only sees what a visitor without an Instagram account sees, and that rules out a few kinds of reels:
- Reels limited to certain viewers. Instagram can mark a reel as not available to everyone, for example because of the viewer’s age or country. Such a reel may play fine in your app, where you are logged in, yet Instagram refuses to give it to anyone who isn’t. TTGet then shows an error, often the message that the video wasn’t found, even though the account is public. There is no way around this without logging in, so such a reel can’t be saved here.
- Reels from private accounts. If you see the reel only because you follow the account, it is not public.
- Deleted or archived reels. The link still exists, but the clip behind it is gone.
- Reels shared to a Story or to Close Friends. A story link (
instagram.com/stories/…) is caught in the box right away with a note that stories need a login.
TTGet never asks for your Instagram password, and the browser extension below doesn’t use your login either. That is why it can’t unlock any of these reels.
A public reel that fails: try the extension
Instagram periodically slows down or blocks the servers of download sites. A reel that is perfectly public can then fail for a while, while another one works a minute later. On a computer, the free ttget browser extension gets around this: the request for the reel then comes from your own browser, the way a normal visit to Instagram would, and the result appears on ttget.com as usual. It sends no cookies, and it does not help with restricted, private or story reels.
The page offers the extension by itself when a request looks blocked. What it does and how to install it is explained on the extension page. On phones, wait a little and press Try again.
Save Instagram Reels on iPhone
In Safari, open ttget.com, paste the reel link and tap a video button. Confirm with Download when Safari asks. A small arrow appears next to the address bar; tap it to see the file, which lands in the Files app under Downloads.
To get the reel into your camera roll, open it in Files, tap the share icon and pick Save Video. There is no Save to Photos button in the result for reels, because the file is delivered by Instagram’s servers rather than ours. Tips for downloading on a phone are collected in the how-to guide.
Save Instagram Reels on Android
In Chrome, open ttget.com, paste the link and tap a video button. A download notification shows the progress. When it finishes, the reel is in your Downloads folder and also appears in Google Photos or the gallery app, ready to share.
Save Instagram Reels on a computer
On instagram.com, click Reels in the menu. Each time you scroll to a new clip, the address bar changes to instagram.com/reels/<code>/: copy that address when the reel you want is on screen. Paste it into the box above and click the video button; the browser puts the MP4 in your Downloads folder. To collect several reels, copy their addresses one by one and paste up to five together.
Reels downloader or Instagram downloader?
This page is about reels only: their links, their buttons and the reasons a reel can fail. The box above accepts every Instagram post, though. For photo posts, carousels with several slides and the questions around them, see the Instagram downloader.
Reel not downloading? Common problems
- You get the cover but no video. Instagram sometimes returns only the cover picture of a reel. Try again a bit later; on a computer the extension usually brings the video back.
- An error for every attempt with the same link. Check that it is not a profile’s Reels tab (
/<name>/reels/) or an audio page (/reels/audio/…). Open the single reel and copy its link. - An error for a reel that plays in your app. The reel is probably limited to certain viewers or comes from a private account. Open the link in a private browser window: if Instagram asks you to log in, it can’t be saved.
- The reel was taken down. Deleted and archived reels can’t be fetched. Ask the creator whether it is available elsewhere.
- A temporary error. Press Try again in the message. If it keeps failing on a computer, the extension can help.
- The button doesn’t download. If a Backup link appears under Didn’t work?, use it. Download buttons also expire after a while, so if the page has been open for long, paste the reel link again.
- The video is smaller than you expected. You get the size Instagram keeps for that reel. TTGet can’t make it sharper than the source.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Instagram Reels downloader free?
Yes. There is no fee, no account and no limit on the number of reels you save.
Do I have to log in to Instagram?
No, and TTGet will never ask for your Instagram password. It only fetches reels that anyone can watch without an account.
Will the creator know I saved their reel?
No. TTGet reads the public reel like any visitor without an account, so nothing is sent to the creator and the reel does not show up in your Instagram activity.
Which button gives the best quality?
Video HD when it is there, otherwise the video button with the largest pixel size, such as Video 720x1280.
Is there a watermark on downloaded reels?
No. TTGet adds nothing to the file. You get the MP4 Instagram stores, including whatever text or stickers the creator put inside the video.
Can I download only the music of a reel?
When Instagram delivers the soundtrack separately, an extra audio button appears and saves an M4A file. If there is no such button, save the video and extract the sound on your device.
Why does a public reel say it can’t be downloaded?
Instagram may restrict the reel to certain viewers by age or region, which means it needs a logged-in account. Otherwise, Instagram may be blocking our servers for a moment: try again later, or use the extension on a computer.
Can I save reels from a private account?
No. Reels that are only visible to followers need a login, which TTGet doesn’t use.
Is it legal to download Instagram Reels?
Keeping a reel for yourself is generally fine, but it belongs to its creator. Don’t repost it or use it commercially without permission. See our disclaimer.
Need photos or a carousel? Use the Instagram downloader for every kind of Instagram post. For TikTok clips, use the TikTok downloader without watermark.
