Xiaohongshu (RedNote, 小紅書) Downloader
Paste the share link of a Xiaohongshu note above to save its video or every photo in it. Free, with no Xiaohongshu account and nothing to install.
How to download from Xiaohongshu
- Copy the share link in the app. Open the note, tap the share arrow in the top right corner and pick Copy link (复制链接). In the English RedNote app it is the same button, just labelled in English.
- Paste it here. Put the link, or the whole text the app copied, into the box at the top of this page. It starts on its own when you paste, or you can press Download.
- Pick a button. A few seconds later the note’s buttons appear: video buttons for a video note, one row per picture for a photo note. Tap the one you want.
The most important part is step 1. Xiaohongshu only opens a note to visitors without an account when the link carries a fresh access code, and the share button is what puts it there. The sections below explain why, and what to do when a link stops working.
What is Xiaohongshu (RedNote, 小紅書)?
Xiaohongshu, written 小红书 in simplified and 小紅書 in traditional Chinese, is a lifestyle app where people post notes: short videos or sets of photos with a caption about travel, food, beauty, fashion or shopping finds. Outside China the same app is known as RedNote. The posts are called notes (笔记), and a note is either a video or a gallery of pictures, never both.
TTGet reads the public page of a note, like a visitor without an account would, and gives you the files Xiaohongshu serves for it.
Xiaohongshu links TTGet understands
- Short links
xhslink.com/…, which is what the Copy link button usually gives you, for examplehttp://xhslink.com/o/3j3HmTlxerN. TTGet opens the short link, follows it to the note and keeps the access code that comes with it. Links onxhslink.cnwork the same way. - Full note links with
xsec_token, such asxiaohongshu.com/explore/<id>?xsec_token=…orxiaohongshu.com/discovery/item/<id>?xsec_token=…. The<id>is a 24-character code; the longxsec_token=…part after it is the access code. Leave everything after the question mark as it is. - Links from a profile page,
xiaohongshu.com/user/profile/<user>/<id>?xsec_token=…, which you get when you open a note from someone’s profile on a computer. rednote.comlinks, the international address of the same notes.- The share text. The app often copies a line with the note’s title and some emoji around the link. Paste it all; the link is picked out of the text.
A profile page, a search result or the home feed is not a note, so it can’t be downloaded. Open the note you want and copy its own link.
Why a link without xsec_token fails
Xiaohongshu refuses to show a note to a visitor who isn’t logged in unless the link has an xsec_token. The token is a long code that the app or website adds to the link at the moment you share or open the note. Without it, Xiaohongshu answers with an error page for every visitor, and TTGet can’t do anything about it.
That is why some links never work:
- A link copied from somewhere else, such as a search engine, a forum post or a chat where someone trimmed the “messy” part after the question mark. A bare
xiaohongshu.com/explore/<id>has no token. TTGet notices this right away and shows the message that the video wasn’t found, without even asking Xiaohongshu. - An old link. Tokens don’t last forever. A link that worked yesterday can be refused today, and then the error looks just like the one for a deleted note.
- A link copied from the address bar after the token was dropped. On a computer the address bar usually shows the token while the note is open, but not always, for example after you reload or log out.
The fix is always the same: open the note in the Xiaohongshu app (or on the website), tap share, Copy link again and paste the new link. It only takes a few seconds and it solves most problems on this page.
Video notes: what the buttons mean
A video note comes back as one row with a small preview picture on the left and the buttons on the right. The labels come from the server and stay in English whatever language you read this page in.
- Video No Watermark is the original video file the creator uploaded, without the Xiaohongshu watermark that the app puts on saved clips. When it is there, it is the first button and the one to take.
- Video + Watermark is the stream copy that Xiaohongshu plays in its app, which can carry its watermark. You may see more than one: each is the same clip in another video format. The first one is H.264, which plays on every phone and computer; later ones (H.265 or AV1) are smaller but older devices may not play them.
- Video + Watermark (backup) is the same stream from a backup server of Xiaohongshu. Use it if the button above it doesn’t load.
Some notes have no Video No Watermark button, because Xiaohongshu did not send the original file for them. Then take the first Video + Watermark button. TTGet saves files as Xiaohongshu stores them; it adds no logo of its own and doesn’t re-encode the video.
Photo notes: one button per picture
A photo note can hold many pictures. TTGet shows one row per picture, in the order of the note, each with a single button: Photo 1, Photo 2, Photo 3 and so on. Each button opens that picture as a JPEG file from Xiaohongshu’s servers, usually around 1080 pixels wide, the size the mobile page uses.
There is no button that saves the whole set at once and no ZIP file: tap the buttons one after the other. The caption isn’t part of the pictures; you can copy it from the text under the result.
Live Photos. Some notes contain Live Photos, pictures that move for a moment in the app. TTGet saves the still picture of each one. The short moving part is not downloaded.
Save Xiaohongshu videos and photos on iPhone
Open ttget.com in Safari, paste the link and tap a button. The files come straight from Xiaohongshu’s servers, so the video or picture usually opens in a new tab instead of downloading.
- For a video, tap the Share button in Safari, choose Save to Files, and the video goes to the Files app. To move it to your camera roll, open it in Files, tap Share, then Save Video.
- For a picture, press and hold it and choose Save to Photos (Add to Photos on older iOS).
The Save to Photos button that ttget shows for some other sites doesn’t appear for Xiaohongshu, again because the files don’t pass through our servers. If you opened ttget.com from inside the Xiaohongshu app, copy the link and switch to Safari first: the built-in browser of an app is the least reliable place to save a file. More tips are in the how-to guide.
Save Xiaohongshu videos and photos on Android
Open ttget.com in Chrome, paste the link and tap the button you want. If the video plays in a new tab instead of downloading, tap the three dots on the video, or Chrome’s menu, and choose Download. For a picture, press and hold it and choose Download image. Files go to your Downloads folder and show up in your gallery app.
Save Xiaohongshu videos and photos on a computer
On xiaohongshu.com, open the note and copy the address from the address bar while the note is on screen; check that it contains xsec_token=. If it doesn’t, use the note’s share icon to copy its link, or send the link from your phone. Paste it into the box above and click the button you want. If the browser plays the video or shows the picture in a new tab, right-click it and choose Save video as or Save image as. To collect several notes, paste up to 5 links together; each one gets its own result.
Xiaohongshu link not working? Common problems
All the problems below end in the same message on ttget.com, “This video wasn’t found”, even for a photo note. Here is how to tell them apart:
- The link has no
xsec_token. Look at the link: if it is axiaohongshu.comaddress withoutxsec_token=, copy the share link again from the app. - The link is old. Even with a token, an old link can be refused. Copy a fresh share link and paste it again.
- The note was deleted or made private. If the note no longer opens in the app either, it can’t be saved.
- Xiaohongshu blocked the request for a moment. Xiaohongshu sometimes shows a security page to download sites even for a fresh link. Press Try again in the message after a minute; a fresh share link often helps too.
- The pasted text cut the link short. If the share text has Chinese text glued right after the link, paste only the part that starts with
http. - A button opens a file that won’t play. Try the next button: it is another version of the same video. An H.265 or AV1 copy may not play on older devices.
- The button doesn’t download. Download links from Xiaohongshu can expire after a while. If the page has been open for long, paste the share link again.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Xiaohongshu downloader free?
Yes. There is no fee, no account and no limit on the number of notes you save.
Do I need a Xiaohongshu or RedNote account?
No, and TTGet never asks for your password. You only need the note’s share link.
Why do I have to use the share link?
Because Xiaohongshu only opens a note to visitors without an account when the link carries an xsec_token, and the share button is what adds a fresh one. A link without it, or with an old one, is refused by Xiaohongshu itself.
Can I download Xiaohongshu videos without the watermark?
Yes, when the note has a Video No Watermark button. It is the original file without the Xiaohongshu logo. If it is missing, only the stream copy with the watermark is available for that note.
How do I save all the photos of a note?
Each picture has its own button, Photo 1, Photo 2 and so on. Tap them one after the other; there is no single button for the whole set.
Are Live Photos saved?
Only as still pictures. The short moving part of a Live Photo is not downloaded.
Does it work with RedNote links?
Yes. RedNote is the international name of Xiaohongshu, and rednote.com and xhslink.com links are handled the same way as xiaohongshu.com links.
Will the creator know I saved their note?
No. TTGet reads the public note like a visitor without an account, so nothing appears in the creator’s notifications or in your activity.
Is it legal to download from Xiaohongshu?
Keeping a note for yourself is generally fine, but the photos and videos belong to their creator. Don’t repost them or use them commercially without permission. See our disclaimer.
Saving from Douyin too? Use the Douyin downloader for videos and photo posts without a watermark. For TikTok clips, use the TikTok downloader without watermark.
